View from our student lounge: observe the fine sundial and then the distinct lack of sun. |

The church near my house and my steadfast landmark. The clock forever reads four and Sundays the chimes go bonkers. |

Campus Villejean home of Université Rennes II: fine example of innovative 60s institutional architecture and a parcour-er's dream-come true and yet I kind of like it. It has the unmistakable characteristics of being extremely well used for exactly what it was built for. There ain't no pretention about this place and despite being rather heineous on the outside, the inside classrooms fit the bill nicely; the campus of Villejean is here to for someone to teach and someone to learn. Unlike the U.S there are no prospective student tours and no glossy brochures. It is a different feel. The kind of place you don't feel bad about stubbing your ciggerette on the fourth floor balcony because it is pretty obvious that was what it was made for. Utility.
